Suffolk Mill Tour
Join Lowell National Historical Park for a tour of the historic Suffolk Mill! This guided tour will take you through historic downtown Lowell and to the Suffolk Mill, where a working 19th century turbine still generates power! Discover how investors and engineers kept Lowell's mills churning out cotton textiles, what it was like to work in the mills for workers from various backgrounds and time periods, and how one city harnessed the power of a river and became a model for industry in the United States.
The Suffolk Mill Tour leaves from the Boott Cotton Mills Museum (115 John Street, Lowell, MA) at 2:30pm and ends at 3:45pm, lasting 75 minutes. The tour may involve up to 1.5 miles of walking, and will take place outdoors and in potentially humid conditions. Please bring water and use the bathroom beforehand, as neither will be readily accessible after leaving the Boott Cotton Mills Museum.
Free parking is available in the Hamilton Canal Innovation District Garage (350.4 Dutton Street). Please take your ticket to the Lowell National Historical Park Visitor Center or Boott Cotton Mills Museum for validation. The Hamilton Canal Innovation District Garage is around 0.6 miles from the Boott Cotton Mills Museum. Metered parking is available closer to the Boott Mills. The Downes Garage (75 John St.) is also located nearby where you can pay for parking.
