Preserving the Dark in an Age of Light
This event has already occurred. This page is provided for reference only.
Dark, starry skies are rapidly disappearing due to the spread of artificial lighting. Luckily, there are easy ways for civilization to coexist with a starry sky.
These talks will be led by Stephen Hummel, the Dark Skies Initiative Coordinator for the University of Texas' McDonald Observatory. Stephen works with oil and gas companies, state and national parks, and area governments to reduce light pollution and preserve the night sky.
