230th Anniversary of George Washington’s Inauguration
The National Park Service is celebrating the 230th anniversary of this momentous occasion with a day of special programming:
10:00 am — 3:30 pm Early American balladeer Linda Russell in the John Peter Zenger Gallery
10:00 am — 3:30 pm Presentation and interpretation of Historic Maps in the rotunda
10:00 am - 10:30 am New Jersey Fifes and Drums will perform 18th-century music on the front steps of Federal Hall National Memorial
10:30 am - 11:00 am Presentation by John Jay, as portrayed by Phil Webster
11:30 am - 11:45 am Charles Starks, MCP, MA Adjunct Lecturer, Department of Urban Policy and Planning, Hunter College will speak on George McAneny, municipal reformer and advocate of the preservation of Federal Hall National Memorial
11:45 am — 12:45 pm The George Washington Reenactment Committee- First Manhattan District of the Grand Lodge of Free and Accepted Masons of the State of New York present a reenactment of George Washington’s Inauguration ceremony, in full costume
1:00 pm - 1:30 pm Fife and Drum corps of the Hearts of Oak Militia Company drill and marching demonstrations front steps of Federal Hall National Memorial
1:30 pm - 2:00 pm Presentation by Congressman James Madison, as portrayed by Kyle Jenks
2:30 pm - 3:00 pm Presentation by Loyalist Rebecca Franks will discuss women’s roles during the American Revolution, as portrayed by Eliza Lichack
3:00 pm—3:30 pm New Jersey Fifes and Drums will perform 18th-century music on the front steps of Federal Hall National Memorial
