The Yeomen (F): Women in the US Navy during World War I
During the First World War, the United States scrambled to build a large military in a short amount of time. With men joining front line forces in large numbers, the US Navy realized women could serve in roles that would free men up to fight. Come to the Washington Monument to hear the story of the Navy's first women to serve in the post of yeoman.
