William Knudsen and the B-29 Plane
Franklin Delano Roosevelt considered putting Bernard Baruch in charge of all industrial war production in 1940. He asked Baruch for the names of 3 engineers to begin planning airplane engines. Baruch replied, "William Knudsen, William Knudsen, William Knudsen." Knudsen became one of the most important Czars of FDR's war production.
