Join the National Park Service as we reflect on a living symbol of America’s 250‑year journey toward full freedom by observing the 150th anniversary of the dedication and unveiling of the Emancipation Memorial in Lincoln Park!

Lincoln Park is the largest Capitol Hill Park and features monuments to two of the nation's greatest leaders—one of which was dedicated to President Abraham Lincoln. Unveiled on April 14, 1876, the 11th anniversary of President Lincoln's death, over 25,000 people attended the event. 

On Saturday, April 11, 2026, the schedule of programming will include:

  • Children's activities, park tours, and exhibits - 12 pm
  • Statue unveiling - 2 pm
  • Panel Discussion on the Emancipation Memorial's History - 3:30 pm 
  • Wreath laying - 4:45 pm
