Description

“Holidays at Hampton” Yuletide festivities are back, both in-person and virtually, at Hampton National Historic Site starting on Saturday, December 11th, 2021!

Detailed information: https://www.nps.gov/hamp/planyourvisit/holidays-at-hampton.htm

1:00 - 7:00pm - The mansion will be open for self-guided tours.  Masks are required and there will be capacity limits inside to ensure visitor and staff safety.  Visitors should expect to wait outdoors for entrance to the mansion.

12:00 - 4:00pm - Self-guided tours of the Farm and living history stations. Masks are required indoors. A virtual farm tour is currently available through the NPS App.

This year’s “Holidays at Hampton” theme, “Home for the Holidays”, incorporates the holiday traditions of the Ridgely family from 1783 – 1900 as well as the lives of the enslaved people, indentured servants and tenant farmers who made their lavish lifestyle possible.

Come explore the historic Mansion decorated for Christmases from the Early Republic to the Twentieth Century – each room reflects a different historical period with authentic Yuletide decorations.

From December 11 through the traditional "Twelfth Night" (January 6), historically accurate holiday-themed settings and decorations are on display in all the first floor period rooms – 95% of the furniture and paintings are original to the Mansion.

As you explore the Mansion, National Park Service rangers and volunteers will introduce you to the great variety of stories of Hampton’s history. This year a tent will be set up behind the Orangery featuring children’s craft activities in the afternoon and carolers in the evening.

Only first floor rooms will be open to the public and are handicap accessible.  All activities at Hampton NHS are always free and open to the public.
