In partnership with The New Orleans Jazz National Historical Park, The Neighborhood Story Project presents: Rest in Peace All Ye Who Have Labored: A Talk and Short Film with the Young Men Olympian, Jr. Benevolent Association.
Come join us as the Young Men Oylmpia, the oldest African American benevolent association in New Orleans, shares the history of their organization, their commitment to traditional jazz funerals, and the maintenance of their society tombs in Lafayette Number 2 Cemetery in Central City. The club will show a work-in-progress short film about the history of their tombs, and discuss the ethic of care that they bring to their community work.
