Saxton House Tour

First Ladies National Historic Site

Who was Ida Saxton McKinley? What did she do as first lady and why?

You can think about these questions and more as a knowledgeable volunteer or park ranger guides you through the former home of Ida and William McKinley. Through learning the story of this former first lady, you'll be able to understand the difficult and public position of first ladies.

Guided tours of the Saxton House leave from the Visitor Center at 10:00am, 12:00pm, & 2:00pm. Tours have a capacity of fifteen people per tour. Tickets are on a first come first serve basis.

The tour does require standing for long periods and moving from room to room. The Saxton House is accessible for wheelchairs.

The Saxton House is by guided tour only. The Visitor Center is self-guided.
