Description
Join a park ranger to explore how the Civil War and Reconstruction affected the expansion of voting rights in the United States. Through images, story, and facilitated dialogue; we'll consider the connection between the 15th and 19th Amendments to the U.S. Constitution.
In 2020, the United States is commemorating the 150th anniversary of the 15th Amendment and the 100th anniversary of the 19th Amendment. The 15th Amendment recognized the voting rights of African American men. The 19th Amendment removed gener as a barrier to voting. Neirther amendment guaranteed the right to vote, but instead reduced the legally acceptable reasons for denying someone the vote.
