Longfellow House-Washington’s Headquarters National Historic Site recently welcomed Waiting for the Boats, an 1882 watercolor painting by Winslow Homer, into its museum collection.  

Please register to join the celebration of this wonderful painting and its generous donor on Tuesday, June 6.

4:30-6:30 PM Reception next door at Lincoln Institute of Land Policy, 113 Brattle Street

6:30 PM Talk by Sylvia Yount, the Lawrence A. Fleischman Curator in Charge of the American Wing of The Metropolitan Museum of Art, placing Waiting for the Boats in context of Homer’s oeuvre.

Register for a scheduled times to view the painting in the Longfellow House (105 Brattle Street), then gather next door at Lincoln Institute of Land Policy (113 Brattle Street) for a reception and 6:30 PM lecture

Sylvia Yount, the Lawrence A. Fleischman Curator in Charge of the American Wing of The Metropolitan Museum of Art, will present a talk that places Waiting for the Boats in context of Homer’s oeuvre. Her talk will also be livestreamed. To join the lecture virtually via Zoom, click here.
