Train ride will last approximately 1.75 hours; departing Steamtown at 9:30 a.m. and arriving to Carbondale around 11:15 a.m. There will be a 2 hour layover at the Carbondale Station for the event. Returning train ride will last approximately 2 hours; departing Carbondale at 1:30 p.m. and arriving to Steamtown around 3:30 p.m.


Description

Get in the fall spirit and welcome harvest season by taking a scenic ride to Carbondale for their Autumn Market.

S. Robert Powell, President of the Carbondale Historical Society and Museum, will be at the Carbondale train station to welcome the visitors from Steamtown to Carbondale, and to direct them to the center of town. Powell will walk from the station to Main Street and the center of town, with a stop at D&H Caboose No. 35964, Carbondale City Hall, and Memorial Park.  

The Carbondale Historical Society (3rd floor of Carbondale City Hall) will be open to visitors from 11:30 A.M. to 1 P.M. Guided tours of the museum will be available.

Carbondale Station Description and Details
Take a scenic train ride through the Lackawanna Valley along the old Delaware & Hudson Railroad tracks to Carbondale, PA.
 
History: Carbondale’s present-day train station was built on the site of the Delaware and Hudson Seventh Avenue train station that was opened on February 1, 1896. Local and express trains, both north and south, from Carbondale arrived and departed from Carbondale on a daily basis. In the 1950s, as many as fifteen passenger trains departed daily from this station for Scranton.
 
Amenities: Light food and refreshments will be available for purchase as part of the Autumn Market.
