Description
Have you ever wondered what food from the 19th century would have tasted like, or what people like Ulysses S. Grant enjoyed eating for dinner?
Well, you now have the chance to try cooking some of General Grant's favorite foods in your own kitchen! In this cooking demonstration, food historian Suzanne Corbett will show you how to make Chicken Pie topped with Maryland Biscuit, both cherished dishes at White Haven during the Antebellum era.
The video for this cooking demonstration will debut on the park's Facebook and YouTube pages on Wednesday, November 25th at 10AM, just in time for Thanksgiving. If you attempt to make this dish for your family, let us know how it went by sending an email to ulsg_interpretation@nps.gov and we might feature your story on our social media pages!
