Description

Join the City of Paterson Historic Preservation Commission for a free historic tour of downtown Paterson, led by guest speaker Richard Polton. This year's tour will highlight the city's 19th century history and view the city as a laboratory of urban and architectural design, and a hub for social and economic change.

Polton has scrutinized undreds of images in the photography archives of the Paterson Museum and wil focus on several key locations in the downtown to illustrate the City's history and transformation. This is a new approach to the walking tour. Being in the place (if not the room) where it all hammened will add immeasurably to the experience.

Bring your own water and dress comfortable. The tour may last up to two hours.

The free tour (reservations required) will meet in front of City Hall at 155 Market Street, Paterson, NJ 07505. Parking is available at several municipal parking garages and lots withing close walking distance - a small fee may be charged for parking.
