Description
Join Gateway National Recreation Area and our park partners American Littoral Society, NYC Bird Alliance, NYC Plover Project, and Jamaica Bay-Rockaway Parks Conservancy for the 20th Annual Shorebird Festival—a free, fun-filled event for birders of all levels and families of all ages.
Schedule of events:
9:45 a.m. - 11 a.m. Shorebird walk at West Pond
10 a.m. - 1 p.m. Partner organizations tabling with activities, crafts and information in front of visitor center
10:30 – 11:30 a.m. Junior Ranger Birder Walk at West Pond
11 – 11:50 a.m. Presentation on shorebird history and biodiversity in visitor center
1 – 3 p.m. Shorebird walk at East Pond
2 – 3:30 p.m. Birding for Beginners at West Pond
3 – 3:50 p.m. Kevin Karlson presentation in visitor center
Visitor center operation hours will be 9 a.m. - 4 p.m.
