The Fabien Cousteau Ocean Learning Center is hosting an educational booth at Biscayne National Park's Black Point Jetty Walk Trail in support of National Public Lands Day on Saturday, September 23, 2023. The booth will include hands-on activities related to microplastics in our waterways and beaches and what YOU can do to reduce the debris and impacts to marine habitats. The Fabien Cousteau Ocean Learning Center will provide instructions for joining the iNaturalist Horizons Project which is being used to collect images to document the plants and animals found at the jetty. It's a simple as 1,2,3. All you need to do is 1) download iNaturalist to your cellular phone and join the Horizons Project, 2) take images of plants and animals found on the jetty park, and 3) share your images. Volunteers will be available to guide you through the process so don't worry if you've never used iNaturalist before! Get involved in celebrating Public Lands -- come out and visit the edu-booth at the end of the jetty to learn more about Biscayne National Park's marine and coastal habitats, our public lands and national treasure with the Fabien Cousteau Ocean Learning Center crew!
The education booths will be set up at the very end of the Black Point Jetty Trail, located at Black Point Park and Marina.
