Description
On January 26, 1830, Daniel Webster, Senator from Massachusetts, delivered a stirring address for national unity that electrified the country. Known as Webster’s “Second Reply to Hayne,” the scene is captured by artist George Healey in a painting that hangs in the Great Hall of Faneuil Hall. Currently being restored, Healey’s piece depicts a critical moment in the early American Republic. Join us to explore this early constitutional crisis, the artist who painted it, and the status of its restoration.
This online program is co-presented by the National Park Service and the Boston Public Library. It will happen over a Zoom webinar.
