Description

The Indians of the Central Plains - Cheyenne, Arapho, Kiowa and Plains Apache - were part of the history of Fort Larned. The Santa Fe Trail ran through the middle of their tribal lands, and it was their fierce resistance to this intrusion into their homeland that prompted the army to establish forts like Larned.

November is Native American Heritage Month and a good time to learn about these original Americans. Join Park Ranger Celeste Dixon from 1 to 2 pm on Sunday, November 25th for a program about the life of the Plains Indian tribes in the area.
