Birding for Beginners

Chiricahua National Monument

  • Monthly on the third Saturday at 9:00 AM from August 19, 2023 to October 28, 2023
  • Free

Whether you're casually taking note of your surroundings, or traveling in search of birds to add to your checklist, people of all ages can enjoy birdwatching!

Join a park ranger at Faraway Ranch picnic area for a bird walk every 1st and 3rd Saturday at 9:00am. Learn about birds coming through the park and how to identify them by sight and sound. We will spend a couple of hours walking leisurely along the Silver Spur Meadow Trail looking for warblers, flycatchers, woodpeckers, and anything else that sparks our curiosity!

Bring your own binoculars or borrow from our limited supply. The trail is mostly flat, but unpaved, with possible creek crossings.
