Description
Manuscripts from Lyrics of Sunshine and Shadow
This mini-exhibit features a selection of poem manuscripts from the Paul Laurence Dunbar Papers at the Ohio History Connection that were compiled into Dunbar's Lyrics of Sunshine and Shadow, published in 1905 by Dodd, Mead and Company of New York. At the time, the poet was living at 219 N. Summit Street (now the Paul Laurence Dunbar State Memorial) in Dayton; his health was rapidly declining from tuberculosis, but he maintained creativity until the end.
The exhibit is on display at the Wright-Dunbar Interpretive Center until December 19, 2016.
