Program Schedule: 10:00am—Hike from Hopewell Furnace to Hopewell Lake in French Creek State Park, 11:00am—Kayak on Hopewell Lake with Rangers, 12:00pm—Break for Lunch at French Creek, 12:30pm—Fishing on Hopewell Lake with Rangers and participate in Jr Ranger Angler booklet, 1:30pm—Hike Back to Hopewell Furnace


Description

Spots are limited and registration is required! Registration deadline is Friday, July 19, 2024
Register to participate in this program by emailing park ranger Mary at Mary_Zerby@nps.gov  
Participants must be 10 years and older; for children 10-18 years, parental supervision is required.
Requirements of this program include its participants to be able to:  
  1. Hike from Hopewell Furnace to Hopewell Lake located in French Creek State Park and back again, @ 1 ½ miles total.
  2. Manage a 1-person kayak.
  3. Sign waiver of responsibility for paddling a 1-person kayak.
  4. Commit 4 hours for completion of the three program elements.
  5. Pennsylvania Fishing License – Ages 16 and older, available online at huntfish.pa.gov and many fishing retailers, not at either French Creek or Hopewell Furnace.
Fishing poles, bait, kayaks, paddles, and life jackets will be provided.
Please bring: a bagged lunch, water, sunscreen, bug spray, and appropriate footwear for hiking and kayaking.
