Throughout our history, women have always been a crucial part of our nation's war efforts. During both World Wars women enlisted, served in uniform, and blazed a trail for other women to follow.
During World War I over 1,000 yeomen (F) worked in the Charlestown Navy Yard doing many of the same jobs as male yeomen, receiving the same pay, subject to the same military regulations and standards of performance. Hear some of their stories as they navigated through the options open to women who came of age in the early 20th century.
