Description
Dr. Diana Carlin, Professor Emerita of Communication at Saint Louis University will present a program on Julia Grant. The talk explores how Julia’s role as a military wife affected her work as first lady, drawing comparisons with Martha Washington and Mamie Eisenhower, also military wives who became first ladies.
Dr. Carlin is the co-author of Remember the First Ladies: The Legacies of America’s History-Making Women which is a comprehensive look at the evolution of the role of first ladies from Martha Washington to Jill Biden. The book was released earlier this month and will be available in the park bookstore.
