Description

Where better to celebrate Flag Day than at the home of the Star-Spangled Banner and learn about the woman who sewed the flag in 1812, Mary Young Pickersgill? Join us at Fort McHenry to learn all about the history of the U.S. flag from its first design in 1777 to today. In the morning you can help a ranger raise the stars and stripes above the ramparts to start the day, and throughout the day you can unfurl a replica 30x42 foot Star-Spangled Banner and learn about how it inspired the song that would become our national anthem.
