Description

Join local professional photographer Mark Bohrer for this photography workshop at Petroglyph National Monument. Mark will help you understand how the cinder cones and the Rio Grande Rift made the rock 'canvas' for the petroglyphs and who carved them. You'll also discover how to make the 'glyphs' pop in your pictures.

You must bring your own adjustable camera, a tripod, water, a light snack, and comfortable walking shoes. Mark will help you with the fine points of exposure settings and composition, but you should know how to use your camera. Bring a polarizing filter and ½ neutral density filter if you have them.

We will meet at the Petroglyph National Monument Visitor Center (Unser Blvd. NW at Western Trail) promptly at 7:30 am for a short photo lesson and to introduce what you'll be photographing, then drive to Piedras Marcadas Canyon to walk and photograph until 11:30 am. Attendance is limited to 10, so call (505) 899-0205 x333 to reserve your space or ask questions. This workshop is free to attend. Participants must be able to walk 1.5 miles on a natural earth surface.
