In the 1910s, New Bedford had the highest percentage of female workers in the United States. Thousands of women and girls in dozens of textile mills churned out miles of cloth. Join artist in residence Beatrice Alder to learn the stories of these millworkers, and make your own mark on history.
As part of a community art project, people of all ages and genders are invited to send messages to the female millworkers who wove New Bedford’s wealth. Write (or draw) a letter to the past, and become part of a story still unfolding today.
