Description

Join the park staff and volunteers as they gaze up at the night sky to watch the display of the Geminid Meteor Shower.  Bring a lawn chair and a blanket to sit back and enjoy the show.  From 5:30-7:30 at the pond, hands-on night sky and solar system activities will be available.  Join a ranger to learn about the December constellations.  View the crescent moon through a 14 inch telescope.  Make sure to dress warmly.  Flashlight are allowed, but we suggest putting a red filter or red plastic wrap over it.  This will allow you to get and keep your night vision.

Parking for the program is available at the Star Fort Pond Entrance off Kinard Road off Highway 246.

Leading up to the shower some activities will be available from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm in the Visitor Center on Highway 248, two miles south of town.

In the event of overcast skies all but the children’s activities will be canceled.  These events will be moved to the Visitor Center.
