Description
Calling all educators!
Join the National Park Service for a fun and informative workshop using nature, wildlife, and the forest as an exciting vehicle and catalyst for interdisciplinary curriculum enhancement. Project WET and Project Learning Tree are teacher-tested, nationally recognized teacher training programs for environmental education that include ready-to-use curriculum activity guides.
Workshop attendees will learn through participation in hands-on Project WET and Project Learning Tree activities and peer teaching at our Chattahoochee River Environmental Education Center lodge on Friday. Saturday will consist of two sessions: an easy-to-understand morning water testing training with the Adopt-A-Stream project on land at our Powers Island unit, and an afternoon river corridor study by raft from Powers Island to Paces Mill. We will float the dramatically beautiful Palisades Section of the river with multiple stops for learning and discovery activities. This is a mild class I section that is safe for beginners; we will provide personal flotation devices and all necessary gear.
Friday attendance and completion of activities will result in Project Wild and Project Learning Tree certification. Additional attendance at one or both of the Saturday sessions will allow teachers to receive 10 contact hours and one PLU. *
Please join us for two extraordinary days of discovery, learning, and fun and share this announcement with others.
* Please confirm PLUs with your school administration and let us know if we can provide supporting documentation.
