Description

It's easy for us to take for granted the lights that brighten our nights; it's only when those lights go out that we begin to experience the nocturnal world as our forebears did. In those moments when the power fails, we often turn to the same tool that they did: the flame on the end of a wax candle. Join guest interpreters from the John Dickinson Plantation as they demonstrate the process of dipping and preparing authentic beeswax candles and even have the opportunity to get hands-on with this essential colonial trade.

This program is free to the public and no reservation is required.
