The Subsistence Farmer’s Toolkit: Ranger-Led Talks and Activities (Blue Ridge Parkway Visitor Center - Milepost 384)
Come learn about what it would have been like to live as a subsistence farmer in the area around the Blue Ridge Parkway in the 1800s. We will look at selection of tools from an early homestead and explore what life would have been like for the family that used them. Together, we will discover how these tools reveal stories of ingenuity, resilience, self-reliance, and the enduring spirit of mountain life.
