Description
On July 4, 1826, the Golden Jubilee of the adoption of the Declaration of Independence, both John Adams and Thomas Jefferson died of old age. The famed Massachusetts mathematician Nathaniel Bowditch was quoted as having calculated that "the chance that two of the signers of the Declaration of Independence in 1776 should survive half a century, and die on the 4th of July, was only one in twelve hundred millions."
Join park rangers Jerry Hawn, Jennifer Epstein and Eric Pominville for a discussion on the 197th anniversary of the astonishing coincidental death of Adams and Jefferson.
