Eighty years ago, the War in Europe was finally over. Following immense loss of life and widespread destruction from 1939 to 1945, the Third Reich was ultimately defeated, and Europe began the long process of healing. V-E Day, or Victory in Europe Day, came to symbolize the end of combat in Europe and marked a pivotal moment in the conclusion of the Second World War. For the Americans it meant the G.I.'s could come home. Join a Park Ranger to explore the story of American GIs and their vital contributions to the Allied victory in Europe.
