Please join us at the African Burial Ground National Monument to celebrate and honor the 23rd Anniversary of the Reinterment.

We will share in African Traditional Ceremony, Dances, and Music in the lobby area of 290 Broadway from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm.

11:00 - 2:00 pm: Drummers — The Healing Drum Collective

11:00 am: Welcome Remarks — R. Mangual

11:03 am: Libation — Ndigo

11:15 am: Singing — 'Lift Every Voice' with Ishkara Heqwabti

11:30 am: Speaker — JAM Shakwi, Howard Alumnus Chef, Coach and Film Producer

12:00 pm: Musical Performance — Joy Brown Quartet

1:00 pm: Special Program — Ndigo, Jessica Washington, and Ishkara Heqwabti

2:00 pm: Africa Historical Art & Fashion Show — Harlem's Heaven Hats

The museum and visitor center will be open from 10 am — 4 pm. A temporary art exhibition is on show. 

This event is free to attend and no reservations are required. All attendees must go through an airport-style security. Limited seating is available. Restrooms and a water fountain will be available nearby.

The 23rd Anniversary of the Reinterment of the Ancestors will be held in the lobby area of 290 Broadway, located at the corner of Duane Street and Broadway. It is accessible by the 1, 2, 3 [Chambers St.], 4, 5, 6 [Brooklyn Bridge/City Hall], A, C (Chambers St.], R [City Hall], J, and Z [Chambers St.] trains.
