Description
Join a ranger for an evening hike to the tip of Sandy Hook and see New York Harbor like never before! From lightships and the Sandy Hook Pilots to the modern-day Coast Guard, we’ll discuss the history and methods used to make New York Harbor a safe place to travel by water. We will start by climbing the two-story Observation Deck and then we will hike on loose sand to the tip of the Sandy Hook spit. This is a strenuous hike! Water, snacks, bug spray, binoculars, flashlights, and sturdy hiking boots or shoes are recommended. Dress for late August, evening weather. Free! Call (732) 872-5970 to make a reservation.
