Local Leaders include Nathan and Mary “Polly” Johnson, William and Lucinda Clark Bush, William Still connected to New Bedford through his work in Philadelphia, the famed Henry ‘Box’ Brown, Captain of the Pearl, Daniel Drayton, Martha Gray Bush, the mother of the Massachusetts 54th Infantry, and Andrew Robeson, Quaker Abolitionist.
