It has been an exciting year already, centered around the 200th anniversary of the establishment of the Hudson's Bay Company's Fort Vancouver. But wait, there's more! Join the National Park Service and the Friends of Fort Vancouver on August 16th for a day of guided walks and tours, demonstrations by costumed interpreters, period music, and more. In honor of this bicentennial, entrance fees will be waived on this day.

Event activities:

10:00 AMCommemoration Walk – Join park volunteers and community members in a walk from the Visitor Center to the reconstructed Fort Vancouver, led by the stirring sound of a local bagpiper. 

10:30 AMCommemoration Ceremony – Dignitaries from Washington State, the Friends of Fort Vancouver, and the Park Superintendent will share their personal connections to the site and its history.

11:00 AM – 3:00 PMOngoing Programs & Activities

  • Guided Fort Tours – 11:00 AM, 1:00 PM, 2:00 PM, 3:00 PM

  • Vancouver Community Concert Band – 11:00–11:20 AM, 12:15–12:40 PM, 2:00 PM

  • Bagpipe Performances – 11:30 AM, 1:00 PM

  • Historic Weapons Demonstrations – 11:30 AM, 1:30 PM

  • Village House Walking Tours – 12:00 PM

  • Visitor center and bookstore open - 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM
  • Children’s Activities – Including a brand-new scavenger hunt created by a Fort Vancouver volunteer (ongoing)

3:00 PM – 4:00 PM – Closing of all activities and preparations for fort closure.
