Description

Join us for this exceptional review of the trees growing at Fort Vancouver at the time of naturalist David Douglas's arrival, followed by a look at the trees of the 1800’s at Vancouver Barracks and Officers' Row, and then, trees of the present day.  In each era, Mr. Griffith will discuss trees that were significant to cultures, industry, and agriculture.

Speaker Jason Griffith is a local orchard keeper, land manager and tree enthusiast who focuses on searching out historically and culturally relevant trees to help tell the stories of the many stewards of Southwest Washington lands over the past centuries. He has a penchant for collecting and propagating trees from all over the nation that are threatened in their native ranges.
