Join us for a special performance from the Dupkia Hoyam Dancers from the Hopi Tribe at the Visitor Center Plaza infront of the visitor center.

The event is free and open to the public. 

Dupkia Hoyam Dancers (Canyon Kids) – Hopi Tribe

Dupkia Hoyam are locals that have been here at the Grand Canyon for years.  They will be performing the Butterfly Dance which is a social dance. They are dancing for rain and snow so we can have good crops and mouisture for the land.  Fred (head drummer) has put together this group, which are his children, neices and nephews.  They have been preforming for Heritage Day for the past 12 + years to share part of our culture with you.  The kids dancing are local students from Grand Canyon Schools they are the 5th Generation of the canyon.  They have a long history with their great-great grandparents living & working here in the park.
