Join the National Park Service and our partners, the Association for the Study of African American Life and History, Inc. and Omega Psi Phi Faternity, Inc., as we come together to celebrate the 147th anniversary of the birth of "the Father of African American History", Dr. Carter Godwin Woodson!

2022 marked 100 years since Dr. Woodson purchased his office-home at 1538 Ninth Street, N.W. in the historic Shaw Neighborhood, which is now the Carter G. Woodson Home National Historic Site, the 389th unit of the national park system.

This year's program will take place at Dunbar High School (101 N Street, N.W., Washington, D.C. 20001) and will feature music from DC Strings, a lively panel discussion on "Woodson the Educator" from Woodson Scholars, a sneak preview of future permanent exhibits, and a poetry recital from Youth Voice.

All are welcome!
