The Heritage Center is open year-round except federal holidays during winter months (i.e. Veterans, Thanksgiving, Christmas, Martin Luther King's, and President's Days).

While visiting view our 23 minutes feature film, "Rendezvous With History: A Grand Portage Story" in the classroom.

Four short subjects 24 minutes long are also available. Titles are: "Our Home: The Grand Portage Ojibwe," "The Men of the North West Company," "The Gift of the Birch Bark Canoe," and "A Gap in the Hills: Geography of Grand Portage."

There are two exhibit galleries in the Heritage Center. On the first floor are exhibits and displays concentrating on the Grand Portage Ojibwe, archaeology and the North West Company of the North American fur trade.  On the second floor is a new exhibit "Shield Archaic Technologies" containing ancient copper and stone tools from the area.
