Rocky Mountain National Park, in partnership with the Rocky Mountain Conservancy, invites you to join us at Beaver Meadows Visitor Center on Friday, August 21 at 2 p.m. for a special program, "The Wisdom of Our Ancestors: The Arapaho Names & Trails Book," presented by Crystal C'Bearing and Journey Nii’eihii Hisei LeBeau.

Crystal C'Bearing is an enrolled member of the Northern Arapaho Tribe and is also Cheyenne River Sioux. Her Arapaho name is Hii3oowonoxhu 3eici' Hisei, which means Medicine Root Woman. Born and raised on the Wind River Indian Reservation in Wyoming, Crystal received degrees in History, American Indian Studies, and Environment & Natural Resources. Since 2017, she has worked at the Northern Arapaho Tribal Historic Preservation Office, where she currently serves as the THPO Director.
 
In this role, she provides expertise on protecting and preserving Northern Arapaho history, language, and cultural resources across Ancestral Migratory Territory to federal, state, tribal, and private entities. She has also participated in numerous NAGPRA cases to reclaim and repatriate Northern Arapaho history and cultural materials. Crystal currently serves on the Wyoming Humanities Board and the Trillium Family Foundation Board, and was recently appointed as the Rocky Mountain Region Board member for the National Association of Tribal Historic Preservation Officers.

Journey Nii’eihii Hisei LeBeau, Northern Arapaho, Crow, and Cheyenne River Sioux, is currently in graduate programs for Museum and Field Studies at University of Colorado Boulder. Journey works in Anthropology Collections as Graduate Assistant at the University of Colorado Museum of Natural History. Journey also created the artwork featured in the book.
