Meet Buffalo Soldier reenactors from the DC Chapter of the Buffalo Soldiers Association and discover how Buffalo Soldiers became some of America’s earliest national park protectors! Explore a special pop-up display, see historic uniforms, and discover stories of the Buffalo Soldiers and their adventures protecting places like Yosemite and Sequoia.  And did you know Peirce Mill has its own Buffalo Soldier connection? Hattie Sewell, who once operated a popular concession at the mill, was married to Samuel Sewell, a veteran of the famed 10th U.S. Cavalry, one of the original Buffalo Soldier regiments!
