Food Rations and Markets at Valley Forge
Food Rations and Markets at Valley Forge
What was it like to cook during the Valley Forge Encampment? What did soldiers and civilians following the Continental Army eat that winter? Where did they get their food from?
Stop by Muhlenberg's Brigade (tour stop 2) this Saturday, May 17 between 10 AM and 2 PM to learn about the markets that were set up near the encampment in 1777/78 where civilians, camp followers, and soldiers with money could buy local produce and other items, and what kind of rations the soldiers were provided at Valley Forge. (HINT: it wasn't much)
