Learn about the history of tea consumption in America, with an emphasis on the late-eighteenth century when George Washington made the house his headquarters and the mid-nineteenth century, when Henry Wadsworth Longfellow lived here. Participants will learn about the teas available in America between 1776 and 1876, how they got here, and what people thought of them. They will also compare and contrast the taste of teas based on historical and modern preparations.

Kelsey Brow is the Curator at the King Manor Museum in New York. She possesses a M.A. in Material Culture, Decorative Arts and a B.A. in Art History and French. She has written and lectured widely on food history.
