Prairie Acadian Cultural Center - Saints & Souls Talk
The Saints and Souls program explores the rich traditions of the All Saints' Day, All Souls' Day. Catholic Saints have influenced many additional holidays frequently celebrated in the U.S. such as Christmas, Valentine's Day, and St. Patrick's day!
The All Saints' and All Souls' holidays are important traditions for Catholic communities of the Cajun Prairie. Similar celebrations occur all over the world and are observed by other religions as well. Each culture brings their own meanings, practices, and rituals to these sacred days.
Join us as we dive into the celebration of life, death, faith and family. Learn about the ways people grieve, remember, and celebrate those who have departed. Also, try making your own paper Couronnes to get a hands-on experience of this region's heritage.
You might be inspired to bring home a new tradition or simply ask yourself, how do you wish to be remembered?
