Description
John Samson, a member of the board of directors for the Ulysses S. Grant Association will present "Reluctant Hero: The Public Service of Ulysses S. Grant". Program will take place in the theater in the visitor center.
"For Ulysses S. Grant, military life held no appeal, yet he rose to command the entire U.S. Army and was the chief military architect of victory in the Civil War. He had no desire to enter politics but was twice elected president. This talk will address the fortuitous circumstances that propelled Grant into a life of public service despite his reluctance."
