Description

Shiloh National Military Park is teaming up with Lifeline Blood Services for a day of blood donations on the battlefield. “We are excited to be partnering with Lifeline Blood Services at a time when there is a shortage of available blood in the United States and particularly the state of Tennessee,” said Superintendent Allen Etheridge. “Only about 10% of the population donates blood, so we hope that our neighbors and friends of the park come out and donate to get the supply back up and help save lives this summer.”

The blood donations will take place on Friday, July 22, from 9:00 am – 1:00 pm, in the main parking lot of the park visitor center. Anyone 18 and older and in good health is invited to become a donor during the event. All donors will receive a free t-shirt courtesy of Lifeline. All donors will also be registered for Lifeline’s 4th annual car giveaway.

Anyone who donates blood with Lifeline Blood Services between Memorial Day and Labor Day 2022, will automatically be registered for a chance to win a 2019 Ford Escape. The car has been donated to Lifeline by Joe Mahan Ford in Paris, Tennessee, and is not associated with Shiloh National Military Park.

“The Battle of Shiloh was one of the bloodiest and costliest battles of the Civil War in terms of lives lost and shattered. But, on Friday, July 22, we can turn the battlefield into a place of life giving not life taking,” said Etheridge.

Anyone interested in donating can go online on July 22 to complete their medical questionnaire in advance and speed up their donation process at www.lifelinebloodserv.org.
