Fall Forest Bathing
Forest Bathing, also known as Forest Therapy, is a slow, mindful immersion in nature that originated in Japan. The guide suggests voluntary activities called invitations that help participants let go of the busyness of everyday life and immerse themselves in the soothing sensuality of nature.
Forest Bathing has many health benefits, including lowering blood pressure, boosting the immune system, and alleviating stress. It also clears the mind and increases creativity. This session of Forest Bathing is run by a Virginia Master Naturalist from the Merrimac Farm Chapter and involves a slow 0.2 mile walk on a wheelchair accessible trail. It is recommended that visitors wear long pants and walking shoes and bring water and insect repellant.
