During the month of September 2025, ranger-led tours of the Tusayan Pueblo Archaeological Site are given on Mondays and Thursdays, at 11:00 am and 2:00 pm. The tours last 20 minutes.
Tusayan Pueblo is located 3 miles (4.8 km) west of Desert View and is the site of a small Ancestral Pueblo village that was inhabited approximately 800 years ago. Location
Located 3 miles (4.8km) west of Desert View Watchtower, Tusayan Pueblo is the site is a small Ancestral Puebloan village showing the outlines of rooms and a round kiva. A relatively flat 0.1 mile (200 m) self-guiding trail circles the site. About 20 feet (6 m) east along the asphalt path from the Tusayan Museum building, the path opens out to form a loop around a wooded area directly ahead, edged with limestone rocks. At front of the loop, a four-foot (1.2 m) tall limestone pedestal displays a three-foot (1 m) wide by two-foot (60 cm) tall angled metal reading panel. To the right is a small brown metal box with a slanted and hinged metal lid on a three-foot (1 m) tall rectangular metal post. Text on the panel reads:Tusayan Ruin Trail. Allow about 30 minutes to tour Tusayan Ruin. The 0.1-mile loop trail through the main ruin is paved and wheelchair-accessible; the side loop to a prehistoric farming site is not. Signs along the way explain the site's features. An interpretive trail guide with greater detail about Tusayan's inhabitants is available to your right.
