Lā Hae Hawaiʻi (Hawaiian Flag Day) Celebration

Join Puʻukoholā Heiau National Historic Site for a three-day celebration of Lā Hae Hawaiʻi (Hawaiian Flag Day). This free event honors the history and significance of the Hawaiian flag.

On Friday, festivities begin at 10:00 a.m. with live music, pū ʻohe (bamboo trumpet) demonstrations, hula implement demonstrations, and a special bring-your-own T-shirt or tote bag printing activity. Visitors are invited to bring a blank T-shirt or cloth tote bag to create a commemorative print. A Hawaiian flag raising ceremony will take place at 12:00 p.m., and visitors can bring their own pū if interested in participating.

On Saturday and Sunday, visitors can enjoy cultural demonstrations, live music, and a "keiki corner" activity area with crafts and educational activities throughout the day. Special presentations on the history and cultural significance of Lā Hae Hawaiʻi will be offered on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. and Sunday at 2:00 p.m.
